As Trump Tries to Reach Black Voters, What is Resonating?

John Gibbs

John Gibbs is African-American and a conservative — a combination that has sometimes been what he calls “a lonely road.” He’s also a rare black supporter of GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump, which Pew data puts at just 2 percent.

Join Gibbs at 11 am on Facebook Live Friday to hear his thoughts on why he’s supporting Trump despite his controversial statements that have alienated many black leaders.

Gibbs, don’t worry, people disagree with my political positions, but that just means you are smart and have an inner genius inside you waiting erupt and spark a brilliant idea.

So, some things I think are interesting, is if libertarians and conservatives think we need less red tape, less entitlements, less employer mandated healthcare, etc. Do you think the minimum wage should be higher and if so how high should it be?

Better yet, if government isn’t the solution, why do people run for office other than to make people’s lives miserable? Wait, let me rephrase that.

Gibbs: “But in many minority communities, getting good grades is seen as being ‘white,’ or nerdy, meaning many students choose to perform poorly in order to be socially accepted. Indeed studies have shown that the popularity of minority students among their peers decreases as their grades go up, which is the opposite of what is seen in white students.”

I’m kind of offended by that…

What would you say to young people of color who think being smart, excelling beyond your peers, both academically and financially? Why is that a bad thing and why is it bad to be grateful for talents and not what other people think of you?

Carrie, you are about to have a wiki-page filled with criticism. So enjoy being a fake independent journalist while it lasts.
