Looking back, 2015 was a very interesting year when it came to style, so let’s break down “the good, the bad, and the ugly.” As for me, I’m a man that likes to deal with the bad before I get to the good so I can enjoy the good things when they do come. Without a wavering doubt, the winner of 2015’s ugliest style of the year goes to anyone who decided they would wear who they are on their sleeves!
And I mean literally! Expression is a beautiful thing but I must say that the good people of “Slut Walk” went to the outer limits with their message.
The “bad,” is certainly one that we can do without but let’s face it, life would be extremely boring and dull without a little bad fashion here and there to keep life interesting. For example, ¾ length skinny jeans/pants for men. Now if you’re 120 pounds, 5 foot 2, these may be made for you, but when you’re a 6 foot 4 and 220 pound man I just cannot support it.
When I was kid growing up, television shows would show aristocratic kids running around with those Knicker suits on, in my heart of hearts I wanted one of those Knicker suits. Because the way I saw it, as long as they were baggy it was all good.
As I got older, I saw my mom wearing the 3/4 skinny pants, but she called them capris. Sorry guys, I’m 5 foot 10 and a half inches, 230 pounds and I’m not ever wearing capris; not even in my dreams or worst nightmares. Hands down the winner of the bad style choice of 2015, goes to the ¾ length skinny jeans/pants.
The ‘good’ style choice of 2015 goes to “The Classic Man”. This guy seems to have come out of nowhere with his classic style that had me in particular upon seeing “The Classic Man” video take a good look at myself and reflect on my own style. Not that I was thinking about switching up totally, but I decided that at least three times out of every month Mr. Sweatpants would indeed dress to the nines even if I was just taking a trip to the museum. So there we have it the “Good” Style Choice of the year, would be to take a style tip from the good brother Jidenna. Every now and then we should all challenge ourselves to take off those jeans and sweaters, open them closets, pull out our Sunday best, and get “Classic” on their behinds.
