Joint Base Andrews was on lockdown this morning after speculations of an active shooter were released. Law enforcement officials have recently confirmed that there is no active shooter on base.
According to JBA, there was some miscommunication between the medical facility, security forces emergency services team, and a scheduled active shooter exercise.
FOX News cited from JBA’s Facebook page stating, “Joint Base Andrews was scheduled to conduct a no-notice active shooter exercise in the late morning on the opposite side of the base. “However, reports of a real-world active shoot situation at the medical facility were miscommunicated before the exercise was able to begin.”
“We take all threats seriously and reacted to ensure the security of those on the base,” Col. Brad Hoagland, 11th Joint Base Andrews commander, told NBC Washington.
