It’s getting closer to the weekend and that’s a reason to celebrate! Thirsty Thursday! Saketini is one of my favorite cocktails to drink because it’s not very strong and when made right has such a light refreshing taste. This very simple and delicious Sake (pronounced SAH-kay, not SAH-kee), is an alcoholic beverage that has been brewed from polished rice. Sometimes, referred to as “rice wine,” although the making of it is a lot similar to beer. If you have ever been offered warm sake that is usually a less quality sake that in most cases tastes like “jet fuel,” and lacks flavor. Sake is very diverse, similar to wine in which you can enjoy a range of flavor from semi-sweet, dry to earthy heavy and fruity. One of my favorite ways to enjoy this libation is with simple ingredients such as agave, lime, and muddled cucumber, where you can still taste the star… the sake! Cheers!
Begin by muddling the cucumber into the cocktail shaker.
Either squeeze the lime juice or muddle the lime for a more citrus flavor. Add the agave.
Followed by the sake and a handful of ice cubes.
Let the fun begin! SHAKE IT LIKE YOU MEAN IT!!
Pour into a martini glass and garnish with thin slices of cucumber.
