At some time or another, we all feel like an outsider. Watch here or on our Facebook page.
Former Global CEO of Chanel, Maureen Chiquet, said she was an outsider and still considers herself an outsider. Maureen joined our Bookstr segment with Sarah Hill and our hosts David Grasso and Selena Hill to discuss her book “Beyond the Label” and how she broke out of the box and became the CEO of one of the most renowned fashion brands in the world.
“When I was 16, I feel madly in love with France. I like to say it started with goat cheese — that sounds strange, but I was in the South of France, and I was falling in love with all of the beauty there,” Maureen said. “That led me in so many ways to appreciate imagery, to appreciate text. I was a reader, and I loved stories.”
Although Maureen is naturally an introvert, she told our hosts how she had success leading teams at not only Chanel, but also Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, and L’Oréal.
