Social Media startup companies are on the bucket list for African-American millennials. According to a new survey released by Merchant Cash USA, 82 percent of millennials ages 18-28 who identify as black, said they would use alternative financing to start a social media company. More than 4,000 people from across the country including Atlanta and New York City, were surveyed as a part of the study. The survey asked participants what type of businesses they would use financing to fund and social media took the top spot followed by the residential and construction industry.
Black millennials continue to take American industries by storm,” Chief Communications Officer of Merchant Cash USA Darrin Landau said in a statement. “Today, many millennials are leaving their 9-5 jobs and starting their own companies, which is what the American dream is all about. We at Merchant Cash USA want to help them get on their feet and start successful ventures.”
Among other industries preferred by black millennials in the survey are food services, landscaping and architecture, tourism and alternative energy. At the bottom of the top 10 were fashion and entertainment. Those industries have been a source of controversial conversation since the lack of minorities and exclusion of blacks in the 2016 Oscars.
