Female superheros are finally being seen on TV. When I describe them to people I usually say that Supergirl is like The Flash and Jessica Jones is like Arrow. The first two are filled with optimism and the second two are filled with darkness.
Another milestone is coming up with a major crossover event. CBS and The CW are sister networks and they are taking the opportunity to bring Supergirl and The Flash together in what I can only expect to be an epic crossover event.
We won’t have to wait too long to see these two heroes together, the episode will air March 28. According to Variety, the characters will face off against Silver Banshee and Livewire during Supergirl‘s 18th episode entitled “Worlds Finest.”
Both Kara and Barry have been going through some rough times. Both of them are very optimistic people, but life has got them down and they haven’t been reacting to enemies the way they usually do.
Losing people can really change your perspective. While both have questioned how they can protect their cities, they have managed to rise above their doubts.
Barry and Kara have also just decided that romance is out of the question right now because their jobs put their loved ones in danger. Romance may be out of the question, but I can’t wait to see the chemistry these two bring to the screen when working together.
Technically, neither character lives in the other one’s world, but that is all going to change come March 28. Their worlds will collide and I hope this won’t be the last time we see these two together.
The Flash is a spin off of Arrow and Greg Berlanti is an executive producer on all three shows and has finally found a way to bring Barry and Supergirl together.
There are some crossovers I’m not so thrilled about, like the upcoming Batman vs. Superman movie because come on now, how can these two really fight each other? Bur Barry and Kara are a little more matched. Barry can’t fly, but he can go super fast. So the question is, who’s faster?
The Supergirl/The Flash promo doesn’t give us much to go on. It only gets us very excited that this is even happening. The promo poster pits the two heroes against each other in a race. Other than knowing what enemies they will face, there’s no telling what will actually go down in this episode.
What the promos don’t show, which I think is a shame, is other Flash characters joining Supergirl. Who doesn’t want to see Cisco and Caitlin interacting with Winn? Imagine what these three could accomplish together? And add Felicity to the mix and these geniuses would be unstoppable.
When you really think about what these crossovers are, they’re purely for the fans. Half the time they don’t serve the storyline very much, but we have a lot of fun watching these characters interact with characters they don’t normally interact with.
Can the writers please give Barry a scene with Cat Grant? It’s fascinating to watch different characters react to her. She even scared Hank and that’s saying something since he’s an alien.
So there may be no real reason to bring these two worlds together other than to really excite the fans. They’ve accomplished getting this fan excited. Sadly, I’m behind on Supergirl and will have to catch up before Barry and Kara join forces. Luckily I’m up to speed on The Flash, just need to catch up on the girl power.
