Washington, D.C. — Duvalier Malone, author and community activist, is set to present “Our Seat at the Table” conversation with Bold TV founder Carrie Sheffield on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at 6pmET, in the historic Brookland Busboy & Poets.
This program highlights Malone’s new book, “Those Who Give a Damn: A Manual for Making a Difference.” Change is always discussed and planned during an election year. Right now, across the entire country, people are engaging and expressing their views for change. Americans are laying out their demands on both sides of the aisle, and they are coming to the table with the potential leaders of tomorrow to exchange views.
Malone will speak with us about his new book “Those Who Give a Damn: A Manual for Making a Difference.” In Chapter Three of his new book, he talks about how he realized that while he has inspired others to lay responsibility at the feet of elected officials, he is not immune to the same criticisms. This is where there’s a marked change in his written columns and speeches at events. Malone understands that he too has been given a platform, and he is equally as responsible to use his platform to create the change that he has championed.
“Those Who Give A Damn” is a story of struggle, adversity, and the will to succeed. Join Malone as he details how he overcame tragedy in the best way possible: in the service of his fellow man and woman. Malone seeks to give a manual on how to serve humanity. As a small-town boy who chased his dreams and found the path to manhood forged by the footsteps of those who paved the way, Malone was blessed with the tools to give back to his community. He now wants to share those tools with others by showing through example how to rise above one’s circumstances and achieve in spite of the hardships and obstacles that lay in one’s way.
While agonizing over his own place in the world, Malone discovered that his measure was hidden in his own courage, strength and hope. This moment of achievement is chronicled in the memoir of this community servant who wishes to inspire others the way he was inspired by those who went before him.
