What’s his big secret? Scott defines the Law of Intentionality as knowing what you want and being intentional about what you are going to do to get it. The beginning of the new year is the perfect time start setting specific goals for yourself.
“You can’t hit a target which you don’t have,” Scott said. Using acronyms, such as BEN — Be Excellent Now — Scott helps his clients by providing easy-to-remember ways for achieving success. He is a strong believer in The 3 C’s: 1) Competence — being capable of accomplishing the area of pursuit, 2) Commitment — to pursuing something, and 3) Community — understanding the need to network.
Scott discussed how reputation, networking and influence affect leadership.
“Our reputation precedes us,” Scott reminded Bold Business Hosts David Grasso and Lyndsay Christian. He said establishing your reputation will increase your network, and increasing your network will drive your influence.
While the concept of a leader is often seemingly synonymous with dominance, Scott asserted that leadership is established “by showing people that you care about them and what’s important to them.”
“Seek first to understand, then to be understood,” Scott said, quoting the book, “7 Habits of Highly Effective People.”
Scott concluded, “If I listen to what you have to say and give positive and honest feedback on it, that is leadership. And leadership takes place no matter where you are.”
