Several 2020 candidates, including Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), have made headlines calling for free college tuition, but former Rep. Harold Ford Jr. (D-Tenn.) told Bold TV he is seeing a lot of discussion and not a lot of action.
“Every politician cites education as his or her top issue, but we’ve really given a lot more rhetoric and a lot more verbosity to it than we have any action,” Ford said.
Bold TV’s David Grasso caught up with Ford at Anthony Scaramucci’s SALT Conference and asked him what he thinks of the current “socialism versus capitalism” debate that has sprouted due to policies like free college and the Green New Deal. Ford told Bold TV that he does think capitalism should be “reimagine[d] and reinvent[ed],” but he said he doesn’t think Medicare for all or the Green New Deal are the right answers.
