President Barack Obama’s last speech as president was a direct call to action for more Americans to enter public service by running for office.
“If something needs fixing, then lace up your shoes and do some organizing,” said the president to an energetic crowd. “If you’re disappointed by your elected officials, grab a clipboard, get some signatures, and run for office yourself.”
This coincided with a conference that Bold put on, with the help of Bustle and The Huffington Post on the day Donald Trump become president.
The conference, held Inauguration Day was called Watch Us Run, aimed to help increase women’s involvement in activism and public service. Read more about the conference here.
