In just three Fridays it will be Inauguration Day. And you know what else happens on Fridays? Bold TV! So you can bet our show on January 20th will be a good one.
Inauguration Day is shaping up to be quite an event. Inauguration Day is usually formal, predictable, and frankly, a little boring. But not this year.
The Rockettes are performing (well, some of them), President-elect Donald Trump is apparently writing his own speech, and dozens of groups have registered for protest permits on the day.
The election of Trump was so surprising and controversial, it seems only fitting that his swearing-in will be the same. Interestingly, reports indicate that both the Clinton and Bush families are planning to attend the festivities, even though this election saw the rejection of both Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton after bitter battles against Trump.
There has even been backlash against the event itself. Rumors are saying there’s an “anti-Inauguration” planned: a concert of high profile anti-Trump celebrities/performers trying to get higher television ratings than the inauguration. In modern American history, there has never been so much reaction to a swearing-in as this.
Our own Carrie Sheffield will be on the ground in Washington D.C. and will Skype with Clay Aiken in studio in New York City to give us a live update on what’s going on.
The following day, January 21, there is a planned Women’s March on Washington. We’ll keep you posted on these and other developments, stay tuned.
