Singer/Songwriter Lyrica Anderson and her husband Floyd “A1” Bentley, a super producer, joined Bold Life and discussed whether the music industry treats the two of them differently because of gender. Anderson said women have to fight “way harder” for success and deal with men’s expectations, especially from someone who has “a bigger name than you.”
“I’ve lost situations because I didn’t go to dinner or I didn’t do certain things, and literally that same person stopped picking up their phone,” she said.
Anderson and Bentley also told us how their new joint EP, “Love Scars,” addresses what’s going on in their relationship — this comes after starring on reality TV show, “Love and Hip Hop: Hollywood,” whose most recent season was full of rumors of cheating.
“The music is like a way of just being like, ok yeah here’s some of what we’ve been through; yeah leave us alone,” Anderson said, laughing.
