We celebrate Bold’s first birthday today, November 30, and we are thrilled you’ve joined us along the way; we’d love for you to celebrate with us by picking up some Bold Swag. Our first six months taught us how to adapt in a rapidly-evolving media landscape, to pivot and find the right partners. After all, that’s how content companies will survive in the age of technology-driven growth: to paraphrase Benjamin Franklin, we must all hang together or we’ll hang separately.
This year we’ve been excited to co-host a U.S. Congressional debate in Harlem with fellow moderators from MTV and MSNBC. We’ve also been excited to partner with digital media companies like Opportunity Lives and Bustle and launch BoldTV in partnership with Roker Media. This year we’ve featured interviews with House Speaker Paul Ryan, vice presidential candidate Mindy Finn, Mitt Romney adviser and bestselling author Edward Conard, Sen. Tim Scott, Ben Carson, Donald Trump economic adviser Anthony Scaramucci, and more.
With our charming and insightful BoldTV co-host Clay Aiken (whose birthday is also today!), we’ve also hosted BoldTV guests from Black Enterprise, POLITICO, The Hill, Contently, New York City Wired, LIBRE Initiative and many others. Al Roker is a livestream thought leader, and we are privileged to work with America’s Sweetheart to bring next-generation content to life. The Live Fronts launched this year by Roker Media in partnership with Gary Vaynerchuk’s Brave Media Ventures is changing the new media landscape, a clearinghouse for content creators and distributors serious about innovation.
We’ll never forget our time in the trenches with tech pioneer BitTorrent at the Republican convention in Cleveland and the Democratic convention in Philadelphia (special thanks to the credentialing committee of the U.S. House of Representatives’ Radio-TV Correspondents’ Gallery for working with a fledgling startup). We also enjoyed working with Facebook at the conventions and here at their Manhattan offices.
Beyond media and tech firms, we are also thrilled to work with community partners like Silicon Harlem, the Network of Enlightened Women, Freedom Fest, Lincoln Initiative and the New York Caucus for Political Action. We’ve also enjoyed presenting the story of Bold at Harvard University and the CUNY Tow-Knight Center for Entrepreneurial Journalism.
