The Network of Enlightened Women (NeW) is anticipating a record number of nominees in The Gentlemen Showcase. Nominations opened February 1 and close February 29. Fifty one nominations for college and under 30 gentlemen have already been submitted–from American University, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Syracuse University, University of Maryland, University of North Carolina, University of Virginia, among others. This national program recognizes gentlemen from across America who demonstrate respect and gentlemanly behavior. It is the only program of its kind.
In the 2015 contest, 75 gentlemen from coast to coast were nominated as honorable gentlemen in the College and Under 30 categories with just one winner selected in each category. Twelve thousand votes were cast and 32 universities were represented.
Nominations will remain open through February 29 and national online voting will begin March 1. The winning gentleman will receive $1,000 to a charity of his choice, a steak package from Taste of Texas, and bragging rights of being named America’s top gentleman. The person who nominates the winning gentleman will receive a $100 Amazon gift card.
“This is a positive program to promote better relations between young men and women,” said NeW President Karin Agness.
To nominate a gentleman, participants post a photo with a short note explaining why their nominees deserves the title “NeW Gentleman of the Year.” Then it’s up to America to vote.
NeW is the nation’s premier organization for culturally conservative women. Started as a book club at UVA in 2004, the organization cultivates a community of conservative women and expands intellectual diversity on college campuses through its focus on education.
Agness is available for interviews about NeW and The Gentlemen Showcase, which runs throughout the month of February. Please email Katelyn Carafano with press inquiries.
