So many of us fell in love with Downton Abbey, the cast, the setting, the style, and time period. It had six seasons that were full of love, compassion, some heartache, and loss. Yet through it all they kept posed and proper. If you are like me, then you are sad to have seen it end.
The lifestyle of Downton Abbey made you wish you were born in the early 1900s. All of us girls, no matter what age, wish we could have our dearest friends over for afternoon tea, have a grand Ball in one of our extravagant entertaining rooms of our mansion, better yet get married in that amazing Chapel of love.
I loved Lady Rose’s choice of wedding attire, it was perfection! The style of clothing and dresses they wore were a turn of the century mark in design. That is one of my favorite style periods with the beads and fringe, the pretty headbands and cloche hats. The hairstyles and effortless make up were perfect. Lady Rose definitely took risks with her style of clothing.
I think the biggest risk taker in style was Lady Mary with the new haircut she surprised us with in season five. It definitely got a lot of buzz! I love it because it is timeless, you see that cut in almost every decade change of hairstyles just in a slightly different versions. Everyone is sporting shorter locks these days and that cut is definitely no exception.
If you are considering going short with your hair there is a way to rock it in the 21st century! With this “compare to” picture you can see the similarities but with a modern take on it. Here is a hairstyle that is still a blunt bob, with a long blended side bang and a slight small stack at the base of the neckline. You can style it straight or you can wear it with a little bit of a wave to it. Whether you are at work or out on the town, this style is totally versatile no matter the occasion.
