On Friday on Bold TV, we talked about national security under President Donald Trump, including the recently updated travel ban and the new revelations from WikiLeaks.
Our guests, Emily Shire and Chadwick Moore, contributed to the conversation. When discussing the tension between the CIA and the President, Chadwick commented:
“I think it’s a politicized institution just like anything else…there are individuals in there who are trying to better their careers and better their lives. They want to see it self-survive and thrive like any institution. So I think in this administration it’s very clear that the intelligence community and the President are at war with each other.”
We then talked about the updated travel ban. Emily noted several eminent changes in the reinstated ban:
“Probably the most obvious one was that Iraq is no longer apart of the list, so there are six countries under these stipulations and not the seven. I think another big one is that there is not the indefinite ban on Syrian refugees; they will be treated as other refugees. Another big change is that it is not being implemented immediately, (we all remember the protests at the airports after it was signed on a Friday afternoon), there are now ten days to implement it.”
In a poll conducted among Bold’s Twitter followers, half of the poll’s participants thought the updated ban would divide our country and a third thought it would make America safer.
