Last week on Bold TV, Pastor Paul Grodell joined Bold Editor David Grasso to discuss his work helping opioid addicts on the road to recovery.
David was our substitute host this week, while regular hosts Clay and Carrie joined him via Skype throughout the show. Clay was unfortunately sick and Carrie was in Washington D.C. co-sponsoring the conference Watch Us Run.
Pastor Paul joined us to talk about his work in Elyria, Ohio, which has been featured Opportunity Lives‘ documentary series, “Comeback.” Pastor Paul has committed himself to give recovery aid to opioid addicts, and give them the good news he himself found in gospel of Jesus Christ.
Pastor Paul was a heroin addict in the 1990’s, and his relationships with his family and loved ones were paying the price for the addiction, until he turned himself around and began the journey to recovery.
“There wasn’t a whole lot of help, especially back then, so I accepted Christ into my life,” Pastor Paul said. “That was 24 years ago, and through my experiences of working with other people, we have been given this vision to open up a home for addicts, especially women, that need to have some hope in their lives.”
On occasion, House Speaker Paul Ryan has joined Pastor Paul in his work, who back in 2012 wanted to connect with grassroots ministers in Ohio who were working with the addicted and the homeless. Pastor Paul recalled how he “discovered [Paul Ryan] was the real deal…and has a real heart for people.”
